What makes New York City the fashion capital of the world?

I’ve been to New York once in my life, when I was a teenager. What I remember best is lying in bed at night listening to the city outside. I loved it! Because that’s the thing about New York, it’s so full of life, so vibrant and exciting. It’s a city with endless possibilities and with lots of diversity. The places are diverse and the people are diverse. This mix and energy is what makes New York what it is, a city of inspiration! New York is full of creative industries from art and music to theatre and dance and the city is their muse. What could be a more perfect place for the fashion capital of the world?

The way the fashion industry is established in New York is also what makes it the fashion capital of the world. The large range of designers, suppliers and wholesalers in the city allows for the industry to grow even further. New York’s fashion industry is very supportive of new talent. There are several fashion design schools present in the city and various support services for up and coming designers. New York is also the home of the most influential fashion publications, such as Elle, Vogue and Women’s Wear Daily. These publications as well as the online fashion world create the buzz around New York fashion week, and help it maintain its status as the headline event of the fashion season.

With the help of these industry factors and the large amount of inspiration the city has to offer New York Fashion Week manages to deliver new ideas and tons of inspiration each season.

What would you most want to cover at New York Fashion Week?

If I get the chance to go to New York fashion week I would do my best to capture the creative energy of the week. I would love to share everything from runway shows and street style to funny moments and late night events. Through photography and video I would convey the excitement of the events and inspiration from on and off the runway.

Hopefully I would get the chance to meet and talk to designers, models, editors, photographers and bloggers I admire. I would ask them questions about themselves, their style and fashion week, and share their answers with my readers.

My fingers are crossed that I get to experience NYFW! Would be a dream come true!
