DIY Ombre Denim Skirt

DIY Ombre Denim Skirt

As soon as I saw Andy from Style Scrapbook‘s amazing DIY Ombre Denim Shirt I was inspired to do my own DIY project. I decided to make a denim skirt and bleach the bottom half to create a ombre effect.

To make the skirt I went out and got some denim fabric and a zipper. I measured a well fitting skirt to find the right waist and length measurements. Then I cut my denim fabric in the desired shapes and lengths and sewed it all together. Next came the bleaching part. First I poured warm water into a bucket and mixed in a lot of bleach (chlorine). I wet the skirt with water and placed the bottom half in the bleach. When the colour had faded as much as I wanted I rinsed the skirt, washed it in the washing machine, dried it and… Ta-da! A Ombre Denim Skirt! :)

I’m very happy with the result and tempted to do some more ombre denim projects (and other DIYs)! :)

Stay tuned for an outfit post with the skirt coming up soon!
